I did a quick search and didn't find anything, so hopefully this hasn't already been suggested, but how about a "default view" button that you can click once to go to the set view and click twice or hold to set a view. I find myself generally going back to the same location and zoom every time in both exploration and build views. This would speed things up a bit in getting there (and also, preferably, start the game at that spot when you start up).
You're right this hasn't been suggested and is a cool idea. I'll make sure it gets added onto the new features list
