Developer Notes: Captain Tinto

Captain Tinto was an early concept, and his name will be familiar to fans of the exploration map! Not based on any historical pirate, Tinto is short, shouty and Spanish.

Tinto is a reasonably quick damage dealer that attacks the nearest object. He is escorted into battle by a bodyguard. His special ability, ‘Tiny Tyrant’, increases the toughness and damage of nearby pirates.



Visually Tinto is small but regal, and a ‘classic’ pirate, complete with eyepatch and parrot. His grapes symbol reflects his wine producing homeland of Rioja, Spain. We decided to keep him purely as melee - his grenade launcher never made it into the game.
