From Legendary Pirates FAQ: This is true when attacking. Their knocked out body remains on the battle field when they have lost all their HP. But when defending on their Legendary Fort, they are killed - as in, you see the "going to heaven" animation just like other troops that are killed. This video I posted for a different bug shows it:
