Add Guildmate as friend and direct message him

Well its best if you can add a guildmate as friend too then just click his name then you can chat with him or send a message to him

 

This has been suggested and discussed in multiple threads before without success. Personally given the age of some of our members 'open & public' chat is the best option.

 

This suggestion (as well as friend-finder) is already on the 'Master List' (http://forum.plunderpirates.com/index.php?threads/guild-feature-requests-master-list.1960/) for consideration; although a Global Chat option has been rejected.

 

I'm a fan of these features.

One note: while the chat isn't here yet, if you both use iOS and add them as a Game Center friend, they will show up in the Blank Pirate Portrait tab at far right of the leaderboard menu, where you can easily view their bases, and invite them to join your guild.
