Sorry, I disagree. You learn the range by trial and error and/or your own cannons that you've built. This is one of those things that distinguish a skilled player from an unskilled one. The information is there it's just not handed to you on a silver platter.
Yeah it would be unfair to see the range of their defenses, you could just deploy all your troops where the radius ends and destroy all the buildings outside it.
