My intention here isn't to increase the difficulty of the game. But in a real sea exploration, the Kraken, sea serpent or any other ship will not stay fixed on the same position during a 6-10 hour journey. They should move, maybe with a predefined pattern, i.e. the pirate ship will spot you when you are about 2 quadrants from it, but it takes 1 hour to move from one quadrant to the other. Or the kraken can move up to 3 quadrants in one shot, but it can only move once every 3 hours. This will force the player to develop a sailing route strategy, before initiating a journey. If you had an exploration scoreboard, this will also increase the competitiveness between players.
Although a nice idea I think it would be very hard to plot a route not knowing what events you may encounter, especially when it comes to choosing the crew for the ship
