Mortar damage

During a battle a lvl 6 mortar nearly one shotted my gunner that has 100 hp. It definitely did over 90 damage from one direct shot. Is this a bug or do direct shots from a mortar do almost double damage?

 

Are you sure? I mean. Were any other defenses hitting it?

 

Nothing else was hitting the gunner. This isn't the first time It has happened.

 

@devs on this maybe they can explain it for us.

 

I thought it happened to a group of gunners of mine too this morning. But wasn't 100% sure. And of course replay is very different.

I have had this problem too. My gunners are lvl 19 with 100 hitpoints. When hit with a direct shot by a mortar (not even a high lvl) their hitpoints go down to almost nothing. And of course that's only when there's no witch doctor around.
