The Thunderstruck Event will be starting soon! As it's got a few more complexities than the previous event, I thought it best to put some details here (most of which are covered in the in-game FAQ, but it never hurts to have more information!). What is the Thunderstruck Event? Thunderstruck is a week-long PvP battling event. You earn Event Tokens each time you successfully attack a rival captain. Event Tokens are based on Plunder Points, so you'll get more for: Three star victories Having a higher level Pirate Hall Having a higher Pirate Rank Winning an attack against a Rumble Rival The more Tokens you collect, the more prizes you earn. One of the main differences during the event is that everyone will periodically be hit by storms. Storms? What do you mean, 'storms'?! Throughout the event, there will be inclement weather, which will impact on various things. For example, the heavy rain will flood sandy areas of islands, like so: Behold! A sunny island will be transformed from this... ...to this! But that completely changes the tactics of attacking islands! It's a good job the editor's been improved with multiple layout slots and autosaving then, eh? OK, what else do Storms do? When a storm is raging, it also: Decreases the hit points of defences and walls by 5% (other buildings, such as the Pirate Hall, are unaffected) Increases the damage done by defences by 10% Increases the damage done by Sky Raiders by 10% Provides a bonus to both Plunder Points and Event Tokens for successful attacks How often will Storms happen? Due to a curious weather system, storms are thankfully predictable. A storm lasts for four hours, and the calm after the storm lasts four hours... before the next storm starts. This pattern occurs throughout the seven days of Thunderstruck. When a storm is raging, you'll be able to see how long it will last for on the Event progress screen. When there's no storm raging, you'll be able to see when the next one is due on the Event progress screen. Can I switch Storms off? No. So, what sort of prizes are there on offer? There are bumper BP prizes, chests, material caskets and closets. The rarest of these Closets, the fabled Dapper Closet, contains guaranteed brand new outfits that won't appear on the Trade Ship! ENJOY!
Can you still collect points towards the Thunderstruck event while attacking islands that aren't under water? Is it just total amount of Plunder Points collected during the time of the entire event?
Yep, you'll still be collecting Event Tokens (which are based on Plunder Points) for successful victories throughout the seven days, even when there's no storm. You'll get bonus Tokens for victories during a storm though!
Incidentally, we've had confirmation that the update will be arriving tomorrow (May the 4th Be With You), and the Thunderstruck event will be the following week (so you'll have plenty of time to get familiar with the new Editor!).
That's exciting news indeed @Lynsey [Midoki] I'm guessing the update is just for the Editor and the new event?
Thanks for the breakdown Lynsey!! This event sound fun Just thinking out loud here, no beach during storms means that my gunners and heavy gunners won't be able to stand back and snipe outlying buildings...hmmm looks like bombers and skellys may be the go to troop and sky raiders of course.
so does that mean that the offside of the legendary fort will be passable / deployable? as in goodbye all 'L' designs for 3,5 days ?
Hmmm good point but I think it will still be locked out by looking at the picture Lynsey posted above.
Looks good, should be fun. How do you calculate how far the tide comes in? Is it just on the sand that the water lies?
Anywhere that has sand becomes a puddle, regardless of if its blocked off by walls or far in. Tan colored sand is now water, where you can deploy troops. Everywhere on the island. If it isn't green, its a puddle. Even if its surrounded by green, the sand will still become a puddle. With the Fort, you can't place troops within the space where the ship normally is, since you wouldn't be able to if you left it in the middle of the ocean to begin with, but if you don't have it touching grass on all 4 sides, there will probably be a puddle left to sneak troops in to, as it doesn't generate grass when placed 1 tile away from buildings like other things do.
Will the event start tommorrow or do we get a couple days to prepare? And will this event last a week like the sailing one?
I know it's an obvious question, but I just need a confirmation: "storms come and go at the same time across all time zones in the world, right?"
